I was approached by Ashley Shaw, organiser of the Recent WordCamp Cape Town to stand in for a cancellation presenting on the topic of WordPress as a CMS. Under extreme pressure to prepare a talk with only a day to plan before the event, I whipped together my presenation using the default Twenty Eleven Theme and decided to present off a live WordPress installation. The live presentation can be viewed at WordPress as IS a CMS.

Ashley Shaw and his team at lightspeed has done a superb job of organising and communicating the event with a website that kept us on the button in terms of what will be taking place and social media integration to keep us focused on the event as it unfolded. WordCamp Cape Town 2011 website.

They’ve also done an excellent job with the post production and release of presentations available on their You Tube channel for WordCampCT. My presentation was just loaded and can be viewed below.

Having organised much smaller scale WordPress meetups in the past, I know what a mammoth task it is pulling off an event of this scale. Thanks again to Ashley and his team for a truly memorable WordPress experience. I’m sure they’ll be feeling the positive results both personally and in their business for years to come.
